Analysis

Among Germans who watched any Taylor Swift content in a given month, the median engagement is brief—typically 0.6 to 1.9 minutes of drop-in music-video viewing rather than sustained viewing. Mean watch time is substantially higher (5–13 minutes), driven by a long tail of dedicated fans, but the median tells the true story of typical fan behavior.

Methodology

Active Taylor Swift viewer = at least one tracked watch event on Taylor Swift video in that month. Per-user monthly watch time summed within each age-group-by-month cell, then the median is calculated across viewers in that cell. Cells with fewer than 5 viewers are excluded. Sample sizes range from 30 to 769 active viewers per cell. Watch time is inferred from session timing and capped at 4 hours.
